|This position’s responsibilities are to manage a school office and serve as secretary to the school principal; provide a variety of administrative support, public relations and customer service functions to promote positive relationships for the school; coordinate a variety of activities and maintain a variety of records concurrent with handling a wide range of service demands, including significant interaction with students, staff, parents and the public.|
|Manages a school office; serves the communication, information and community relations needs of staff, administrators, students, parents, substitutes, other agencies and the community; coordinates and oversees facility use, safety, and security. Serves as secretary and administrative assistant to the principal. Coordinates and organizes conferences, meetings, workshops and other activities. Oversees and maintains a wide variety of records and reports, including budgets, payroll, student records, purchasing and staff evaluations. Supervises non-classroom classified staff assigned to the building; provides direction and monitors work load; provides input to performance evaluations.|
|Reports to building principal.|
|Required to meet multiple and concurrent inflexible deadlines. Required to interact with upset or difficult individuals. Experiences continual interruptions to concentration. Required to perform or track multiple tasks simultaneously.|
|Dexterity and precision in computer keyboarding. Required to use a variety of office machines. Exposed to student illnesses and health risks in clinic. Exposed to computer screen for long periods. Occasional lifting or positioning of supplies.|
|Required Education and Experience: High school graduation or equivalent and five years of secretarial experience of increasing responsibility, preferably in a school office setting. |
Mandarin Chinese fluency is highly preferred.
Required Knowledge of:

Keyboarding, data entry and retrieval, word processing, and transcribing machine dictation.

Required Ability to:

Maintain positive relationship with students, staff, parents and the public. Perform all physical activities and meet all physical requirements indicated in the Physcial Demands section above.

Perform all duties in accordance with applicable Board policies, District and legal requirements.
Meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
|AISP salary classification 9A ($ 19.14 per hour), 40 hours per week for a 207-day annual assignment. |
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement that requires a membership or representation fee as an ongoing condition of continued employment after an individual is hired.
